In the hair or in clothes – chewing gum has certainly found its way there undesirably more than once, causing us many problems. However, this does not mean that you need to cut your hair right away or throw away your favorite clothes.

There are several ways to make the chewing gum easy to remove in no time.

  • Use an iron

Thanks to it, you will not only remove the gum, but also save the garment from complete destruction. Find the exact spot where the rubber has stuck. While the iron is heating up, place a piece of parchment or sheet of paper with the rubber side on it.

Then turn the garment over so that the cardboard is touching the ironing board and the fabric is on top of it. Now iron the garment and hold it for a few seconds at the point where the rubber has been stuck.

If it turns out that it is stuck firmly enough, the process must be repeated several times. The effect that should be obtained is rubber stuck to the cardboard, and the clothes are clean and ironed.

  • Liquid soap

The type of fabric the rubber is glued to does not matter . Spread the soap thoroughly on the stain and rub it vigorously with a stiff bristled brush.

In this way, the soap will be well distributed and it will be possible for it to penetrate into the rubber particles.

With a wooden or plastic spatula, carefully remove the residues. If the rubber is still stuck, add more soap and repeat the process with the brush. You can also leave the soap spread out for a few moments to make it work better.

  • Acetone

The nail polish remover can also effectively be used as a rescue in case of problems with sticky gum. However, it should be borne in mind that when used in excessive amounts, it may discolor fabrics.

However, you should not worry about the strong smell – it will disappear with the washing. Pour the nail polish remover into a container and use an old toothbrush to spread the stains on the spot.

Rub gently without damaging the fabric while trying to remove the gum. You can also help yourself with a blunt knife or spatula, and wash when done.

  • Ice

Place the stained clothing in a plastic bag so that the area with the sticky rubber does not come into contact with the plastic, otherwise it will stick again. Place the bag in the freezer and wait a few hours for the gum to harden.

After the appropriate time has elapsed, take the garment out of the plastic bag and use a wooden or plastic spatula to gently remove the gum.

Another method is to apply the ice cube directly so that the gum does not get wet, as the dry cold helps to remove it.

How to remove gum from other materials?

  • Wood

To remove rubber from wooden surfaces, cool them so that they do not get wet or damp. It is best to wrap the pieces of ice in a plastic bag and put it on the dirty area. Then use a plastic spatula to gently remove.

If there are still residues, you can use a little water or liquid soap for cleaning. If the surface is varnished, a few drops of ammonia diluted with water may help.

However, it should be remembered that after completion, thoroughly clean and dry the area to be cleaned in order to avoid halo and stains.

  • Marble or stone

It can happen to us, for example, in the kitchen. It is also best to use ice for removal. After cooling, gently remove with a spoon or knife. Remaining residues will come off easily with water, detergents and soap.

  • The walls

If the wall is painted with washable paint, it is best to remove the stuck rubber using heat, such as a hair dryer. Do not put it directly on the wall, but first put a piece of dry paper or benzene on the rubber.

A few drops of ether can also be used. If the wall is covered with wallpaper, it is best to resort to the ice method.

  • Carpets

For starters, try the ice method, it should come off easily. However, if there are residues, rub vigorously with a cotton towel soaked in turpentine.
